Grammy award winning artist Barry Manilow is donating a Yamaha piano to launch a musical instruments drive in the city and is offering free tickets to his Friday show at Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie to those who join him in the effort.

The pop icon has launched similar drives in cities where he is currently touring and is joining with local Yamaha dealer Metroplex Piano for the Dallas effort. Organizers are encouraging others to donate gently used musical instruments now through Friday at Metroplex Piano’s Plano or Dallas location.

The Best Southwest/South Dallas Relay for Life hosted by the American Cancer Society gives the community a chance to help the organization save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Relay for Life takes place from May 31 at 7 p.m. until June 1 at 7 a.m. at Duncanville High School Panther Stadium, located at 900 W. Camp Wisdom Road in Duncanville.

Events are held overnight as individuals and teams camp out at Panther Stadium with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening. Former and current cancer patients, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations, and anyone wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited to take part in this exciting team event.
