The City of Dallas and corporate sponsor NRG hosted a Trinity River Wind Festival last week to celebrate the power of wind and renewable energy. The event was held at the Dallas Floodway at the intersection of Riverfront Boulevard and Commerce Street.

Highlights of the event included Japanese kite makers and high-flying action from Second Spin Disc Dogs showing kites of all shapes and sizes presented by Troy Gun and TKO Stunt Kite Flyers along with Dallas Area Kite Fliers Organization.

“Each year all those flying kites exemplify the magic and uniqueness of this festival and the commitment of the city and NRG to the community,” said Craig Holcomb, executive director of the Trinity Commons Foundation.

Other activities included the Kroger Kids Fun Zone with bounce houses and clowns and NRG’s subsidiary Reliant Energy provided free kites to the first 2,000 attendees at the welcome center. Musical entertainment was held at the Reliant Entertainment Stage.
