Dallas LIFE is in urgent need of donations for allergy and cold relief. It has asked the community to assist with supplying unopened new bottles and packages of sinus, allergy and hay fever non-drowsy medication; children’s cough syrup and cough drops; and pain relievers for children and adults. Donations can be taken to the center’s back dock, located at 1100 Cadiz St.

Dallas LIFE provides shelter; food; clothing; medical, dental, vision and counseling services; and spiritual care to homeless individuals and families. For more information, call 214-421-1380 or visit http://www.dallaslife.org.

Veteran Services Blitz Day will offer veterans of Dallas information on services and programs available to them. The event will be held April 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Urban League of Greater Dallas, located at 4315 S. Lancaster Road.

The event will consist of academic services, community vendors, employers and event staffers who will assist veterans with college entry, employment opportunities and address outstanding housing issues for homeless veterans. For more information, call 214-915-4600.

A newly constructed vault, two floors below Dallas City Hall, will now hold some of the city’s valuable historical treasure. The new Municipal Archives will contain some of the city’s earliest government documents as early as 1866, Dallas Police records on Bonnie and Clyde, and Lee Harvey Oswald’s fingerprints.

Among the more notable collections are the Dallas Police Department investigation files on the murders of President John F. Kennedy and DPD Officer J.D. Tippit; maps, engineering plans and architectural drawings of Old City Hall, Fair Park and the Majestic Theater; records of municipally-owned Love Field and WRR Radio; essential city government documents, including the City Charter, City Codes, Annual Budgets, Annual Reports; and more than a quarter million photographic images.
