Nominations for educators in the Oak Cliff area are being accepted for the annual Oak Cliff Educator of the Year Celebration. The Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce will honor a college, high school, middle school, elementary and pre-K educator for their dedication to youth and young adults. Dr. Lois Becker, provost and vice president of Academic Excellence and Student Success at the University of North Texas at Dallas, will be the keynote speaker. The celebration will be held Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in the Hitt Auditorium, located at 1441 N. The New Parkland Open House will be held on April 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the community will have an opportunity to explore Parkland Hospital’s new state-of-the-art facility. Community Conversation: Building Cultures of Trust will be presented by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Dallas Alumnae and Southwest Dallas County Alumnae chapters on March 28 at 10 a.m. Police Chiefs from Dallas, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster and Duncanville will be available to address the community’s concerns. The community event is free and will be held at the University of North Texas Dallas, located at 7300 University Hills Blvd.
