The deadline to apply to one of Dallas ISD’s new Choice Schools is drawing near. Students interested in attending D.A. Hulcy STEAM Middle School and the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy High School may apply through Friday.
Both schools will open with one grade – sixth grade at the STEAM middle school and ninth grade at the IDEA high school. One grade will be added each school year. The two new Choice Schools are the first of 35 the district plans to launch by the year 2020.
Applicants who live within 3.5 miles of Hulcy, located at 9339 S. Polk St., will be given priority. There are no academic requirements to attend.

The First Fellowship Community Church of Oak Cliff, the James Madison and Roosevelt High School 1964 graduates will host a special Prayer and Appreciation Service for Zeno “Bucket” Manuel on May 23 at 2 p.m. at First Fellowship, located at 910 E. Ledbetter Drive. The purpose of the event is to offer prayers for the healing for Manuel and allow those whose life has been touched by him to offer donations and written messages of encouragement.
Coordinators for the event are looking for relatives, friends, high school alumni, neighbors, co-workers, members of Dallas Independent School District and the Post Office, etc. who would like to participate.
