On May 9, Dallas residents voted for a mayor and City Council members. Incumbent Mike Rawlings won the majority vote for mayor. Carolyn Arnold won the majority vote to become the councilmember for District 4.

There will be a runoff election on June 13for City Council candidates not receiving a majority vote.

The runoff elections for Dallas City Council Districts 3, 7 and 8 as follows:

The above candidates received the highest number of votes in each district with no candidate receiving 51 percent of the vote.

On June 1, The Dallas Examiner will present Monday Night Politics-Meet the Candidates for the runoff election that will take place on June 13.

The forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the African American Museum, located at 3542 Grand Ave. It will be an opportunity for the community to see the differences in the two candidates in the runoff election for each of the districts.

The Dallas Examiner will also present a Monday Night Politics-Meet the Candidates on June 8 that will feature a forum on the Trinity River Project. The forum is scheduled to be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the African American Museum.

The forums are free and open to the community.

The forums are sponsored by NAACP Dallas Chapter, Urban League of Greater Dallas Young Professionals, Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Metropolitan Dallas Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Dallas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc., Dallas Association of Realtists, Dallas Pan Hellenic Council, Theta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc., Omicron Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and the African American Museum.
