GRAND PRAIRIE

Dr. Sherry Blake, founder of Edge Empowerment Foundation, will be a featured speaker at the inaugural Caregiver Holiday Healthy Living Expo hosted by She Ages Well, a low-cost, daylong event, held Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Summit, located at 2975 Esplanade, Grand Prairie.

“I’m excited to be a part of such an important event,” Blake said. “Taking care of a loved one is stressful and we need to support caregivers every step a long the way.”

The expo is a Dallas community outreach online resource for caregivers, according to founder Patricia Bailey. It will feature seminars on healthy lifestyle tips for caregivers, Alzheimer’s facts, finding a home for mom/dad, understanding hospice and palliative care, healthy hair and cancer plus special caregiver product demonstrations. Vendors will also be available to discuss products and services.

Blake will speak on “Managing Caregiver Stress.” She has appeared on reality TV shows such as the Braxton Family Values, Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Preachers of Atlanta. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience. She also has written a book, The Single Married Woman, and writes a weekly column, Ask Dr. Sherry, for Essence.com.

The day will wrap up with a Caregiver Party with A Plan, featuring a Sock Hop & Caregiver Slide. The expo includes a movie and popcorn. Reservations can be made through http://www.sheageswell.com.
