The city of Dallas will cut the ribbon on the multimillion-dollar Bachman Aquatic Center, welcoming the city’s newest water playground to Bachman Lake Park on May 9. The modern, resort-style venue is Dallas’ 9th aquatic center to be built and features a 4-lane lap pool, climbing wall, play pool, basketball goal, open and closed flume slides.

In 2015, the Dallas Park and Recreation Board and Department updated its Aquatics Master Plan, recommending the department’s outdated community swimming pools – of which many of them were more than 70 years old – be replaced with modern aquatics centers to better meet the recreational needs of Dallas’ increasing population. In 2017, Dallas voters overwhelmingly supported a $260 million-dollar bond program that helped the Park Department fund construction of Bachman and other aquatic facilities.
