Charity Chukwu is a writer, editor, educator and social justice advocate. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 with a Bachelor of Journalism concentrating in copy editing and digital design. She began her career documenting the incredible, but often overlooked work of local nonprofits in her community. First as a blogger for Peace Through Pie and then with the education-based nonprofits College Forward and Austin Partners in Education. For two years she taught elementary school in rural New Mexico before ultimately returning to her journalism roots in Texas as the copy editor for The Dallas Examiner.




Diane Xavier received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University in 2003. She has been a journalist for over 20 years covering everything from news, sports, politics and health. She has been working with The Dallas Examiner since 2013 as a reporter, covering the unique storylines of the African American community in Dallas. She also currently works as the Production Manager for The Guadalupe Radio Network in North Texas on KATH 910 AM. She has been an avid sports fan since she was 12 years old and enjoys watching sports, listening to music, reading and spirituality.


Mike McGee is a Dallas-based journalist and photographer. He has been a reporter at The Dallas Examiner for eight years. He is a four-time winner of the National Association of Black Journalists Salute To Excellence awards and a recipient of the Press Club of Dallas Hugh Aynesworth Award for Excellence in Journalism. His work has appeared on KETK 56 News and in publications such as The New York Post, the Neighbors section of The Dallas Morning News and The Senior Voice. His photography has been in video installations at the Dallas Museum of Art C3 Galleries and on numerous Jones Soda labels.


Selena Seabrooks was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She relocated to Dallas in 2017. She is the newest reporter on The Dallas Examiner editorial team. Selena holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Florida International University and is currently working toward a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from FIU. She also works as an internal investigator for a beverage distributor where she investigates employee complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, etc. She brings 15 years of experience in human resources and 12 years of experience as an investigator.
