Monday Night Politics: Meet the Candidates, presented by The Dallas Examiner, is a forum for candidates of elected office. This forum is to inform the community of candidates’ qualifications and is an opportunity for them to address issues facing our community. The forums are sponsored by numerous Black nonprofit groups.
Prior to the Democratic and Republican primary elections in Texas on March 1, The Dallas Examiner produced 33 forums for elected offices. Each forum was professionally produced by Metroplex Mobile Studio LLC. The forums can be viewed on https://dallasexaminer.com. Additionally, forums are on The Dallas Examiner Facebook page.
We thank everyone who attended these forums. Broadcasting to The Dallas Examiner webinar, YouTube, Facebook Live and DallasExaminer.com, we were able to increase our reach by approximately 50,000 viewers.
Many of the candidates are in run-off elections that will be held May 24. Early voting for the run-off election is May 16 and ends May 20.
The Dallas Examiner website, under Voter Education category, has a list of candidates in the Democratic and Republican primary run off election.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with this information in addition to viewing videos of candidates’ forums on www.dallasexaminer.com prior to voting on May 24.
The Dallas Examiner remains committed to voter education for our community. On the front page of every issue of the newspaper, there are pertinent questions answered about voting provided by Louis Bedford III, Esq., an attorney specializing in voting rights. This information will be published on the front page of The Dallas Examiner and on DallasExaminer.com until the November election.
In September, Monday Night Politics: Meet the Candidates will present forums for key elected positions that will be on the ballot in November. The format will be different and will allow a conversation of 45 minutes for each candidate to discuss pertinent issues and answer questions.
The community will be given an opportunity to present their questions prior to September forums.
