Congressional High School Art Competition

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Texas-30, will present an art competition for ninth though 12th grade students in District 30 – South Dallas, parts of Oak Cliff and Lakewood, Arts District, Love Field, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Duncanville, DeSoto, Glenn Heights and Wilmer Hutchins. The winners’ artwork will be displayed at the Capital in D.C. Acceptable art forms include painting, watercolor, drawings, pencil drawing, mixed media, computer generated art and photography. Shopping for Groceries Survey

City of Dallas and Food Idea Innovation Challenge have sponsored a survey that allows Dallas residents to provide information about access to groceries/grocery stores, as well as shopping needs and habits. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. The results will help the city of Dallas learn more about how people shop and access in order to the city to develop or tweak programs that meet the needs of the Dallas’ changing society. The feedback will also help the city make better programs, tools and policies on food. Most questions deal with your pre-COVID shopping patterns. Access the survey at


Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program hosts virtual legal clinics

The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, a joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association) and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, and local Dallas law firms have partnered to hold virtual clinics every Thursday in June.

Clinics are as follows:

  • June 4 – Virtual Clinic with DVAP and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • June 11 – Virtual Clinic with DVAP and Hunton Andrews Kurth – 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • June 18 – Virtual Clinic with DVAP and Hunton Andrews Kurth – 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • June 25 – Virtual Clinic with DVAP and the Dallas Asian American Bar Association – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
