Dallas County opens its DCHHS Emergency Housing Assistance Program
On July 1, the Dallas County Health and Human Services announced the launch of the Emergency Housing Assistance Program to provide short-term, rental, mortgage and utility assistance to Dallas County residents living outside the city of Dallas facing economic hardship in the wake of COVID-19. Assistance is eligibility based and will be processed through a lottery system.
DCHHS has begun accepting pre-screening applications online at https://www.dallascounty.org/ehap. The deadline to apply is July 9 at 4 p.m. Individuals who do not have access to the internet or are unable to access the application, can call 214-819-1968 weekdays between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Submission does not guarantee eligibility or an offer of assistance. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
Dallas Park and Recreation to offer free Discover Summer Camp
Dallas Park and Recreation will offer a free live virtual camp for ages 7-12. Camp will be held July 13 to Aug. 13, available weekdays from 10 a.m. noon. METTA Association introduces Bridge the G.A.P.
METTA Association, a nonprofit mental health advocacy organization devoted to enriching the lives of those affected and impacted by mental illness, announced the launch of Bridge the G.A.P. newsletter and continuously developing community and peer involvement project.
One of its primary goals is to increase community support backed by its mission “to advance human rights and diminish stigma via service, advocacy, education and enlightenment.”
The association proposes projects that deal with stigma, disparity, alienation and other factors related to mental health issues, and “We are enthusiastic about this budding endeavor as it promotes joy, thriving, wellness and recovery,” stated METTA Association founder George Brooks.
