Virtual Black History Month Celebration

During its 2021 Virtual Black History Month Program, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center will present The Fierce Urgency of Now, a two-part virtual event held Friday and Feb. 19 at noon. It will be available to view online for free at:

City of Dallas and DISD Internet Service Survey

The city of Dallas and Dallas ISD are conducting an internet service survey to improve internet services for students and residents. South and Southern Dallas residents are encouraged to participate. The survey and speed test will gather data about internet availability and speed of service, which will identify areas of service improvement. It takes about 5 minutes to complete. Survey is available at https://www.dallas.speedsurvey.org.

 

Free food distribution at Watermark South Dallas

Free food distribution event will be held Feb. 12 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Watermark Church, located at 7540 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway in South Dallas– the old Pearl C. Anderson School. Boxes will be distributed in front of the school on Garden Lane. No registration or ID required. Drivers and walk-ups welcomed. Mastering the virtual interview

Katrina Strohl, certified career coach and Minority Veterans of America partner, will discuss how to ace a virtual job interview, Monday at 1 p.m. The course will include basic mic and camera placement, virtual software and managing non-verbal communication. The course if available for all ages but is geared toward seniors. The session will be held at https://www.facebook.com/theseniorsource. Social Venture Partners is a local group that helps organizations through pro bono consultations. Accepted organizations receive help figuring out what may or may not be working, analyze vulnerabilities, and develop an annual work plan and progress report to ensure adherence to your goals.
