So much is made when there is an attack carried out by a “radical Islamic terrorist,” and the attacks are, to be fair, horrible.

But they are no worse than the attacks carried out by “radical White American terrorists.” Not surprisingly, their actions are not criticized by many politicians, including the current president. The president has yet to condemn the assassination threats against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and he urged the governor to “make a deal” when armed militia showed up at the Michigan State House because they were and are angry that she has put restrictions in place to protect the people in her state in light of COVID-19, according to The Hill. He also praised the people who threatened a Biden campaign bus in Texas. He said they had done nothing wrong, The Washington Post reported.

His defenders and supporters are showing up all over the country. Nothing he says or does changes their behavior or their willingness to fall on their sword for him. They are emboldened by the president’s support and accounts show that they are heavily supported by law enforcement officers, as reported by the Brennan Center for Justice and The New York Times.

In several states across the nation, a dedicated effort is being made to train people to de-escalate potential violence that will be perpetrated by these American terrorists, according to Lawyers and Collars and The New York Times.

American terrorism is not a new thing, although it is not talked about much. In 1920, terrorists who were opposed to capitalism were blamed for causing an explosion on Wall Street, as documented by PBS NewsHour, and more recently, anti-government terrorists blew up the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma, which History.com documented.

White American radicals destroyed Greenwood, the so-called “Black Wall Street” of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921, Smithsonian Magazine recounted, and other American cities have been destroyed by radical White American terrorists.

Almost all of these attacks in this country have been race-based – i.e., groups of White people are resentful of the gains that have been made by Black people. There has been a core of the American foundation and belief system that Blacks should stay in their place, and whenever Blacks have been seen to step out of their designated role – and have proven to be highly successful – there has been White backlash.

So, it is not being hyperbolic to say that many feel that, under the leadership of this president, this country may very well see an extreme violent attack by White American terrorists. The fact that they are showing up at Boards of Election and State Houses with weapons with little to no pushback from law enforcement says that, should they show up, the people who will be under attack will largely be on their own.

If Mr. Biden wins the election, and the sitting president refuses to leave office peacefully, an action which he has hinted he will take, it is not clear how this country will avert violence the likes of which we have not seen since, perhaps, Tulsa.

A CNN report warned that, in spite of saying he loves “our country,” his actions are totally anti-patriotic, as his threat to hold onto power no matter what threatens to destroy what is left of the government he inherited and promised to “protect and defend.”

His friends – angry White men with guns – stand ready to defend the man, not the country, and at the end of the melee, what will be left?

God help us all – first to vote in numbers that are so large that court challenges will be totally impossible – and then to stand ready with our eyes wide open to “protect and defend” this country as the neither the president nor the sycophant GOP senators have done.
