(Special to The Dallas Examiner) – Dallas-based nonprofit Vogel will host the grand opening of its new 15,000-square-foot child care facility at The Shops at RedBird. A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for The Rita Sue and Alan Gold Child and Family Center, named in honor of the Golds’ longtime support and service to Vogel.

Vogel has provided a broad array of therapeutic services to help young children and their families prevent and overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness and poverty, since 1987.

Focusing on both academic growth and social-emotional development, the Vogel RedBird facility can serve 130 children aged six weeks through Pre-K, and their families. Priority placement is given to employees of businesses located in The Shops at RedBird, as well as working families supported by Vogel, with remaining spots open to all southern Dallas families.

Key features of the new child care center include:

• An architecturally designed exterior façade incorporating latest designs and a dedicated west-side entrance for convenient access.
• A modernized corridor that encourages a welcoming and safe environment for children and parents alike leading to the educational space.
• An outdoor green space and playground area to encourage children’s play and development
  The opening of center expands upon the nonprofit’s mission to help young children and their families prevent and overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness and poverty.

The new center offers high-quality early childhood education, family support services and access to primary and mental health care.

Additionally, Vogel is connecting families with living-wage job opportunities with RedBird tenants, including Parkland Clinic, UT Southwestern, Children’s Health, Crossroads, Jarvis Christian University, the DEC at RedBird, Workforce Solutions, Dallas College and all retail, restaurants and small businesses in the development.

The Shops at RedBird co-developers Peter Brodsky and Terrence Maiden played a pivotal role in bringing this project to life, providing a long-term donated lease to support Vogel’s efforts in improving the quality of life for Southern Dallas residents and RedBird employees. General contractor Hill & Wilkinson and architecture firm Kirksey Architecture also played key roles in the Vogel RedBird project.
