(Special to The Dallas Examiner) – The African American Leadership Institute will present the fourth annual Black X Conference at the Long Center for Performing Arts in Austin, June 27.

This year’s theme, “Leading Through Legacy,” was developed to underscore the transformative power of leadership rooted in culture, community and collective impact. The day-long event will feature powerful keynotes, dynamic breakout sessions and premier networking opportunities—all designed to elevate and empower African American professionals and changemakers across Texas.

Dr. Steve Perry, education pioneer and founder of Capital Preparatory Schools, will deliver the morning keynote. Following him is a afternoon address by Dr. Dennis Kimbro, best-selling author and economist whose work on generational wealth and Black entrepreneurship has inspired millions.

“The Black X Conference is more than a moment – it’s a movement,” said Daphne McDole, CEO of AALI. “Our goal is to equip Black leaders with the tools, insight, and connections they need to make a bold impact – not just within their industries, but within their communities. We believe legacy isn’t something you inherit. It’s something you build.”

With over 400 Black professionals, entrepreneurs and executives expected to attend from across the region, Black X has become one of the most anticipated leadership events in Central Texas. Rooted in the spirit of Juneteenth and backed by AALI’s year-round leadership pipeline, the conference draws on a proven track record of advancing equity, influence and opportunity for African Americans through intentional leadership development.

In its first three years, AALI has graduated over 100+ fellows, with many of its alumni who have gone on to serve on local nonprofit boards, launch civic initiatives or step into expanded leadership roles within their organizations – contributing meaningfully to the broader economic and civic ecosystem of Texas.

“We’re proud to build a space that affirms the brilliance of Black leadership while challenging systems to make room for it,” said BiNi Scoor, co-founder of AALI and CEO of 212 Catalysts.

“This conference is made possible thanks to the generous support of partners who believe in that mission – St. David’s Foundation, Moody Foundation, Q2, Indeed, Prosperity Bank, Texas Mutual, H-E-B, and Vela Wood – and who understand that investing in Black leadership is investing in our collective future.”

The conference will be inclusive and open to everyone. Attendees can expect a curated blend of sessions on leadership, innovation, cultural equity and personal growth, alongside a celebratory reception, according to conference coordinators.
