DALLAS

The St. Phillip’s School and Community Center will host its annual Community Thanksgiving Feast on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 600 Pennsylvania Ave. The meal is free for anyone in the community to attend.

The annual feast is a longstanding tradition of St. Philip’s that started in the early 80s. The faculty and staff cooked dishes at home and served a few people in the immediate neighborhood.

Now, the tradition engages hundreds of volunteers to help provide and serve a hot sit-down feast to over 300 individuals on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day. For more information, visit https://www.stphilips1600.org.

GLENN HEIGHTS

The Glenn Heights Police Department will allow residents to have packages shipped to the police department between now and Dec. 24 to avoid package theft. The program, entitled “Operation Front Porch,” is now in its second year in Glenn Heights.

To have packages shipped to the police department, residents should enter the following shipment information:

[Resident’s name]

Glenn Heights Police Department

550 E. Bear Creek Road

Glenn Heights, TX 75154

To pick up packages, residents must bring a government-issued identification card and order/shipment proof of receipt. Parents picking up packages addressed to their children must bring proof of guardianship and/or the child’s identification. Residents can pick up their packages on weekdays between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and noon.

There is no charge for the service, but the police department requests that packages shipped to the station weigh less than 50 pounds.

DALLAS

The city of Dallas launched MUNIRevs, a new online portal for short-term rental – known as STR – owners to register their property.

In addition to registering their properties, STR owners are also required to collect hotel occupancy taxes – known as HOT – from their guests and report and pay all HOT to the City on a monthly basis.

“We know many short-term rental owners may not be aware they should be registered and paying taxes to the City,” said Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Reich. “That’s why we’re excited to offer this new online option because we want to make the process as easy and convenient as possible for our residents.”

A short-term rental is any residential property or part of a property rented for 30 days or less. This includes homes or other units, such as a garage apartment or backyard cottage, listed for rent on Airbnb, VRBO, HomeAway, and similar websites.

Additional information about the short-term rental registration process is available on the city’s website. Individuals with questions about the registration process may also call 888-751-1911 or email support@lodgingrevs.com.
